At the time of the hearing Arran Jones was the Executive Director of the Independent Children’s Monitor, which is currently hosted by the Ministry of Social Development (MSD). Arran held a number of roles within MSD including Deputy Chief Legal Advisor. Healso held a number of leadership roles within MSD including working in the Office of the Chief Executive, at Work and Income and he led the Partnerships and Programmes workstream in the “Investing in Children” programme that established Oranga Tamariki. Prior to his current role at the time of the hearing, Arran was the Head of Privacy at Accident Compensation Corporation. Arran’s evidence focused on the establishment of and role of the Monitor and its future direction.
