Public hearings He horanga tūmatanui
The Inquiry held more than 133 days of public hearings from June 2019 to October 2022. Most public hearings were held in person in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland and streamed live online.
The public hearings were grouped into themes, specific care settings and groups of survivors. The Inquiry heard evidence from survivors, advocates, academic and legal experts, government officials and individuals and representatives from faith-based institutions.
A total of 15 public hearings were held.
