The Royal Commission is seeking to engage a small group of people to increase:

• our connection with survivor communities,
• awareness of the Royal Commission’s work
• engagement with the Royal Commission’s work.

Key activities for the Ambassador role are to provide an independent connection with key survivor communities including Maori, Pasifika, gangs, people with disabilities and learning disabilities. On a day to day basis you would:

• Talk about the work of the Royal Commission through your established networks and connections.
• Work with people in key survivor communities to encourage them to connect and work with the Royal Commission, and provide advice on the different ways of connecting that work for individuals within the key groups.
• Provide the Royal Commission with insights around what survivor communities want to know or need to take part in.

Ambassadors will be appointed by the Royal Commission for a set term that will be reviewed on a rolling basis. At any one time, the Royal Commission may have between six to 10 Ambassadors in place across New Zealand.

Appointments will be made as and where required to support connection with key survivor communities where increased engagement is desirable. As a result, we will have an open period for applications of interest (there is no closing date).

This is a paid role where successful applicants will deliver services to the Royal Commission; note, that this is not an employee role. Contract rates for services delivered will be negotiated with individuals on a case by case basis and factor in the experience of individuals and desired deliverables.
