Statement of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests in Aotearoa New Zealand for the Faith-based Redress Hearing (phase 2)
***Distressing content warning***
The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) in Aotearoa New Zealand is the national chapter of SNAP, a worldwide peer-support network of adult survivors of child sexual abuse by members of the clergy, in faith-based organisations and in other institutions. SNAP’s members come from a number of different faith traditions, including but not limited to the Salvation Army, Jehovah's Witnesses, the Anglican, Baptist, Presbyterian and Methodist churches and the Catholic Church. In this statement SNAP outlines problems faced by its members when engaging with the redress processes of faith-based institutions in New Zealand and identifies areas where change is required.
