Statement of Dr Brigit Mirfin-Veitch for the Ūhia te māramatanga Disability, Deaf and Mental Health Institutional Care Hearing

Dr Mirfin-Veitch was the Director of the Donald Beasley Institute (DBI) at the time of the hearing, an independent research institute specialising in disability reasearch. The DBI were contracted by the Inquiry to carry out a research project called “Tell me about you”: A life story approach to understanding disabled people’s experiences in care (1950-2006). Dr Mirfin Veitch spoke to the evidence gathered as part of this research and what findings can be drawn from it.
